PriorLease

PRIORLEASE / U.S. + CANADA BUYERS

Canadian buyers: verify the car before planning the border crossing.

Buyers anywhere in Canada can submit a PriorLease purchase inquiry. When the vehicle is located in the U.S., purchasing it and being allowed to import and register it are separate questions. Verify the exact VIN and current requirements before committing.

Check admissibility first

Transport Canada explains that a model appearing compatible with the import program does not guarantee successful importation. Review the exact vehicle's eligibility, modifications and required compliance steps with Transport Canada and the Registrar of Imported Vehicles as applicable.

  • Do not assume every model year or trim is eligible.
  • Disclose lifts, conversions and other modifications when checking requirements.
  • Resolve missing documents or compliance questions before paying a deposit.

Build a cross-border cost worksheet

Separate the USD asking price from exchange and payment costs, taxes or duties where applicable, import-program and inspection charges, required modifications, provincial registration and transport. The amounts depend on the vehicle and your circumstances; this page is not a tax or customs quote.

Agree the seller's process

Confirm which documents the seller will provide and when title and the vehicle can be released. Ask how inspections, deposits and pickup are handled. Confirm export, border and import requirements with the relevant authorities rather than assuming the seller handles every step.

Check provincial requirements separately

Federal admissibility is not the same as provincial registration. Contact your province's registration authority and insurer about documents, inspections and coverage. Cross-border warranty support also needs written confirmation.

Buyer questions

Does purchase availability mean the car is importable?

No. PriorLease accepts Canadian buyer inquiries, but the exact vehicle's import and registration eligibility must be checked before purchase.

Can I submit my budget in Canadian dollars?

Yes. Choose CAD in the vehicle-match form. Displayed marketplace asking prices remain USD and do not include a currency conversion or import-cost estimate.
